The Florida Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs hosted the fifth annual Days of Advocacy at the Florida Capitol last Wednesday and Thursday. The two-day event brought together Club staff and youth from over 20 Club organizations to Tallahassee to share their stories and experiences with legislators.

Over 150 staff, youth, local board volunteers, state board volunteers and champions attended the event, which began with a welcome reception Wednesday evening. Youth participated in a tour of FSU's campus, and heard from Club alumni as they trained and practiced for their legislative meetings the next day.

Clubs hosted over 100 meetings with legislators the following day, sharing their experience with their elected officials and how Clubs provides a safe place for youth to go when they aren't in school. The event ended with a luncheon that welcomed special guest Representative Dana Trabulsy and a panel discussion with three Club youth about their time in their local Clubs and how it's impacted their lives.

The event was generously sponsored by Florida Power & Light Company, LEAD, Florida Prepaid College Foundation, JM Family, AmeriCrane, AmeriHealth Caritas, TECO and Xennial.
